The new track, titled ‘Welcome To My Life’, features lyrics about his last two years, which detail his broken marriage, Twitter meltdown and his failed 2020 US presidential campaign.
“Tell the assassins I escaped from Calabasas,” the lyrics reportedly say. Calabasas is where he lived with Kardashian and their four kids, North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two.
“It’s a very deep, sad song about Kanye, with him reflecting on his marriage with Kim,” the source told The Sun. “He talks about the kids and mentions her taking everything. After he played this song he paused for like, two minutes, and cried. It was really somber.”
However, an insider told The Daily Mail West “doesn’t say anything negative” about his estranged wife or their family on his new album.
West’s reps are yet to confirm or make any comment on his lyrics.
There aren’t a lot of details yet about what will be the 10th studio album from West. Titled Donda, it’s named for his mother Donda West, who died in 2007 following cosmetic surgery, and is set to be released this Friday, July 23.
The rapper’s team announced on Monday that West will present a listening event for Donda at 8pm on Thursday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
His last album, Jesus Is King, was released in 2019.
